Chronicle - Bill Management App Reviews

Great developer

I noticed an issue where archived bills were reappearing after syncing with iOS devices. The developer responded right away and issued a software update promptly. Chronicle is a great app, and I recommend it.

I like this one the best, so far.

I’ve tried a few of the bill management apps. Chronicle seems the best suited for me. I tried using reminders in BusyCal for a month. It works, but Chronicle is better. It’s not clutter up with the other reminders. So, I’m back using Chronicle.

Chronicle works, but needs some work

I was an early adopter of Chronicle years ago and its nice to see the many improvements in the overall design, features, sync, etc. It had a lot of problems early on with frequent crashes, losing information, etc. so after reading the reviews I thought I would give it another try. I’ve had minor problems on my Mac saving the settings or preferences like due dates, reminders, available income, etc. So I have to quit out of Chronicle, then redo the settings or preferences again in order for them to be saved. I also had another problem with archived bills. When a bill was archived, the sync worked and no longer showed the bill on my iOS devices, but when the bill was unarchived, it no longer synced or reappeared on my iOS devices, which forced me to reset the sync on my Mac. It would also be a nice feature if Chronicle could extend the available income beyond just the current month. Some of us have fluctuating cash flows and Chronicle would be a good way for me to see realistic balances based on my projected inflows and outflows for extended months. If the developers can work out the minor flaws, streamline the UI (too many to mention), and add some features, this would be a five star app.

Don’t buy it if you want sync with bills

This is a very old-traditional app. You have to enter the amount of each bills mannually. Actually, there are tons app which are ble to connect the API of all your bills. The bills are updating by themselves automatically. Then, you never enter any numbers every month. Just enter your username and password!!

Great Application

Overall I’m very happy with this application. I was a user of it a while back and have recently come back for several reasons. First the application I was using hasn’t been updated in over a year and second I really wanted an application that had both mac and iOS apps. The interface is clean and very user friendly and the support for questions and feedback is very responsive. I would definitely recommend this application if you’re looking for a way to manage your bills and track your confirmation codes.

Needs update badly

I have used Chronicle for six months and it worked great for three. I bought the MAC app and for the last 3 months it won’t open. It goes into my taskbar and just sits there. Please fix.

New issues.

Since updating many of my issues have been adressed, however I continue to have issue when opening the program. Once opened the menu bar does not show options for Chronicle and as such I am unable to address my second issue of alerts being sync with the incorrect email address. I still believe that Chronicle is the best app of it’s kind and am hopeful that these issue will be addressed in the next update.

Buggy

I’ve had this App for awhile now (over a year) and the companion iOS and it’s just really buggy and doesn’t do things it really needs to do, like syncing. I pay my bills and update on my iMac, but my iOS App always gives me the badges and does not show payment was made. I have to go into the App on my Mac and force the sync. So annoying.

Wonderful Essential App

I own both this Mac OS X app and the iOS app and consider them essential software. I can’t begind to count the number of times this app has saved me from getting late fees or cancelations. It replaced my iOS-only BillMinder app (which hadn’t been updated in years). The developer is very responsive and it shows in all the little details. Highly recommended.

Great program just got better

Excellent program. Not at all complicated but very understandable. The progression of this program is exactly what you would want. The interface is easy to learn. This program does not paint you into a corner but remains flexible given your changing needs. Would not hesitate to pay twice the price for this program and it still is worth the money.

Essential

As another reviewer mentioned, I too consider this an essential app. I use the mobile and desktop versions to keep track of my bills. This has helped me to better budget my expenditures, and since I’ve started using it, I have never been late on a bill. The new feature for variable billing amounts is nice - I typically adjust the amount each month, but this will make it easier. The option to attach payment confirmation documents to the desktop version is really great, too. Admittedly, I’ve just started doing that, but I know if I keep it up, someday it will save me a lot of time. If you’re not good at keeping it all in your head, you must get this app!

Great Bill Management App

I’ve been using Chronicle for several years and continue to be impressed by the ease of use and great support. It’s well worth the cost, which at first seemed a bit pricey, but I soon realized was worth every cent. I can easily add all my bills and keep a paperless trail of payments made with confirmation numbers (no need to print a payment confirmation to add to bulky paper files). Any questions are quickly answered and addressed.

Simple and Useful Concept, Excellent Execution

While this piece of software may initally strike users as unusally ‘one-task’ (i.e., bill management), the experience of using Chronicle will prove its value. I have long wanted an easy to use application to help me manage and track my monthly bills, but have often been overwhelmend (YNAB) or unimpressed (Koku) with the applications that have attempted to serve this role. Chronicle is a refreshingly simple, well executed application that provides a bill managment system worth every penny. The best thing about the application is its dedicated purpose. This is not a task manager that will become cluttered with other projects and to-dos, it is not a calendar application that will be filled with birthdays and appointments; it provides a seperate, automatically organized location to manage bills and collect payment records (which answers the question of what to do with those “Print this page for your records” documents). The $15 price tage is ½ of the cost of a late-payment fee, so if you’re on the fence about purchasing consider the possibility that if this application helps you avoid a single late-payment fee it has already paid for itself.

Been using this app for about 9 months

I have been using this app for about 9 months and I rely upon it heavily. I have both the iOS and OS X versions on multiple devices. I own three residences in two states 300 miles apart. My current application has 33 entires that I track for payment. Previously I used The Bills to keep me informed about payments, but Chronicle beats that app hands down. I like the ability to fashion notifications and values in the app to my needs. I also like the cross device ability and having the app available no matter which of my devices is close at hand. Chronicle has kept me from late fees and missing payments for the residences I own and surely beats the old method of keeping all the data on spreadsheets that I used five years ago. This app is certainly worth the money and I would recommend it to anyone needing to track their bills and monthly payments.

Simple, attractive, functional app

This is the best bill management app I have ever found. All of the others are way too buggy and complicated, trying to link to my bank account, etc. This app does basically one thing, and it does it very very well. Since I downloaded it, I haven’t missed a payment on any of my bills. The best thing I can say about any app is that it truly makes my life easier, and this one certainly does.

Great app!

This app is indispensible for me to keep track of paying bills on time. Works great, easy to use, reminders pop up on time. What more can I say? Just get it!

Use to work. Not Intuitive

I have been using this app for a little over a year. The data use to sync over iCloud, but for some reason the OSX version and the iOS version are not in sync anymore… They both say they last updated today, but the iOS version doesn’t have any of the udpates from the latest OSX app. The app looks nice, and seems like a good idea, but it just isn’t very intuitive. I’ve been waiting for this app to get better, but all it essentially does is create calendar events… There are no receipts, printable reports, card pay off plans, api to link actual due amounts… There really isn’t anything special about this app, and the fact that it no longer stays in sync and I consequently had a late paymet, I will no longer be using this app.

Sync across 2 Macs and iPhone is atrocious

I like the interface and utility. Unfortuntaely it has serious issues maintaining accurate syncing information across multiple computers and ios devices. I tried icoud and dropbox and it just doesn’t work, sometimes reverting me back 1 month or two to old information. A real shame :(

Excellent bill tracker/reminder app

Does everything it claims in the video (see LittleFin’s Web Site) and does so without any problems. I have been using this app for quite some time across my MacBook, iPhone and iPad and because of that, I’m never late on a payment and it’s easy to keep track of previous payments and receipts.

So far So good

I just started using this today. The reason I bought this app is because I had been using an excel document to keep track of all of my bills and it’s been tedious. There are no reminders and I’ve been late on a few bills. I felt really unorganized. So I downloaded this and I entered my bills into it (wow I have more than I thought!) It’s very simple which is nice. I find myself searching for more, but I think that this is exactly what I need. I don’t understand how the reminders work yet, as it doesn’t have a place to enter your email or phone number but it says it will notify you in the notification center… so we will see, but so far I really like it and I already feel much more organized.
